DROP: You’re Probably Not the Only One Who Can Do That

Tip No. 5

When a to-do list has been written, managed, and executed by you for long enough, it's natural to believe you're the only one who can do what's on it. That your particular way of doing things — your standards, your attention, your care — makes them irreplaceable. That handing them off would mean something important gets lost.

For some things, that's true, and they should stay on your list. But for most of it? Your special touch just isn't required.

THIS WEEK’S DROP TIP:

Drop the belief that you're the only one who can do the thing, unless it genuinely requires your specific skills, love, or presence.

For everything else, open yourself to the reality that it can be done by someone else. Maybe differently. Maybe just as well. Maybe even better.

The “only I can do this” belief is worth a second look, because it's usually less about the task and more about the story we've built around it. Whether it's control, identity, or just wanting to feel needed, we can be surprisingly good at getting in our own way.

When you stop believing you’re the only one for the job, you get to shift your focus to who you want to share it with. Do less, together. Right?

SIT WITH THIS

Does this task require my specific skills, love, or presence, or have I just never asked whether someone else could do it?

Turns out, not everything needs you. And that's actually great news.
